A Villa on Lake Como

After seeing Lally’s paintings hanging in Argentiere she was asked if she could paint a scene on Lake Como. “Why not?” she said, but she would have to see it for herself rather than paint from a photograph. Lally subsequently spent a week painting on site. It was a hot summer and she was able to complete several sketches of the beautiful surroundings and produced three watercolours. Two of which are these paintings of the house on the hill above Lake Como from different sides.”
